Mr. and Mrs. R. de B. Hill

WAIROA, Last Night. | Mr and Mrs li. de B. Hill the fofmer liaving been stoek inspector here for a namber of years, were tendered a farewell funetion at the Masonic Hall ou Thursday night. There wa« a large and representative 'j'itendauce, and oue and all were consistent in their expressions of regret on the one hand at Mr Hill's impending depuiture, aud good wishes for the future in his new sphere of duty. The social, managed by the Rev. C. Hyde and Mr D. Withers, went'with a swiiig from start to fmish. Community singing. vocal items and dauciug made up a full programme. Dni-ing an interval presentations wero luudo by Ihe Farniers Union, the AiigiLeun Ohurcli, and the High Scliool committee, the speaker being Mr P. J. O'Kuue, president of the Fanners' Uiuon, Archdeacon Butterlield, for tlie AngV'can Church, Mr R. Goodiey, for the High Scliool committee, and Mr H. M. Asltburn, for tlie native race. Mr. Hill made a suitable rcply, aud the gaUiering broko up with the singing of "For Ile's a JolJy Good Fellow-. ' ' The ladies provided a dainty ftuppe? .
