Appointment of a London Representative MANY APPLICATIONS

! WELLINGTON, Last Night. Preliminary eonsideration was givei by the New Zealand Wool PublicitJ Committee at a meeting in Wellington to-day to applieations reeeived for ih« position of New Zealand repreaentativ# on tJhe London Wool Secretariat. Au*» tralia and South Africa will also each have a representative on the secrefcat* iat, the appointment of which was decided on at a recent conference in Au*> tralia of delegates representing wook growing interests in the three countries concerned. At the conclusion of to-day 's meeting the ehairman of the committee, Mr. H. M. Christie, M.P., stated that * very large number of applieations had been reeeived for appointment' as the New Zealand representative on the London Secretariat. By a proeess of elimination this number had been reduced untii comparatively few remained. .The- committee had also advertised in London, and arrangements had been made with the New Zealand representatives on the London advisbry committee, Messrs. B. S. Forsyth and.G. H. Wood, to peruse the English applieations. They would! reduce these applieations to a limitedi number and then cable their recommen-. dations and the qualification of the men; they recommended as suitable. It was the desire of the committee to appoint a New Zealand man if possible. On re« ceiving word from London, » further meeting of the committee would be called immediately, and an appointment made. It was hoped to. have fhs matter settled next month. The question of future eleetions of !the wool-growers' rejpresentatives on (the Wool Publicity Committee was klso. considered, and the meeting decided to {ftdopt the method of election uxad by ithe New Zealand Meat Proaucers'' jBoard — the electoral college system.; IThe eloction would be held in con« jjunction with the Meat Board election.This course. had been adopted to reducei •the expenditure to tlie loweet possibla Ilevel. The committee also eonsidersd ihe [question of expenditure in relation to icertain research work of a practical jnature which offered immediate assistlance to wool-producers generally. A definite scheme will be cdmpleted at as| early date and full information made available to the public. It is the desire of the committee to obtain the fullest co-operation of the producers generally, and it is intended to keep them advised of the activities. „
