WELLINGTON, May 21. Fines totalling £322 10s, with costs in addition, were imposed by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., on eleven Chinamen found in a room in Haining Street where the police conducted a raid. A large quantity of opium and smoking implements was produced in Court. The alleged occupier was Ah Low, who insisted that he was only minding the premises for an hour for a friend, thongh ifc was stated that he had admifr ted to the police being the occupier. He was fined £25 and costs for having permitted the premises to be used as u common gaming-house. and £50 and costs for being in possession of opium. The otliers were fined varying ■unounts according to their police re eords, the fines ranging from £50 down to £15, ,
