Mayor Gratified at Celebrations EXPRESSIONS OF 'fHANKS Thanks to all those who assisted in the Coronation and Borough Jubileo celebrations an Hastings last week were expressed by the May.or, Mr G. A. Maddison, at the meeting of the Hastings Borough Council last night. "I am as proud as it is possible for a man to be at the success of the celebrations," ko said. "The differeht f unetipns went ofU most successfully and satisfactorily, and the sclieme of decoration of tho streets was unique and considered to be one of the best displays in the whole of the Dominion.' Mr Maddison said he was very thankful to the Ministers' Association for conducting the Divine Service, which began the celebrations in a htting manner. He was particulafly grateful to the public for their cooperation and support of all the functions and gatherings, and also to the business people for their support and generous assistanes. Thanks were also due to Mesdames Lowry and Stead, and the other ladies who assisted with the Coronation Ball and to the Community Clnb and the Townswomen'g Guald for their part, whieh was no small one. He also thanlced the members of the scliool committees, the teachers and children, the two bands — the Hastings. Oitizens' Band and the Hawke's Bay Highland Pipe Band — for their numerous appearances and general helpfulness. "Most of all I am deeply grateful to the Town Clerk, Mr Noel C. Harding, and the secretary of the Hastings and District Progress Lea§ue, Mr G. E. G. Eogers, who so ably and satisfactorily carried out the tremendously big joh that occupied so much of their timo," he said in conclusion.
