TARADALE TOWN BOARD

Work of the Month The monthly meeting of the Taradale Town Board was held last night. Present: Messrs J. Williamson (ehairman), J. Wainscott, J. A. Wilkinson, W. H. C. Howard, J. Gilmour and F. O. Andersou. Appreciation was expressed of the aesdstance given by members of the Taradale and District R.S.A. in the illumination of the Fallen Soldiers ' Memorial during the (Joronation cele.brations. Following on the representations made to the Minister oi! Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, regaTding the proposals for public swimmingbaths, it was deeided to apply to the Loans Board for sanction to raise a loan of £750 The clerk and overseer, Mr W. G. Jar vis, reported as follows on the work carried out during the past month: — Boads. — Thirty-four chains of Guppy road from Greenmeadows Post Office to Burness road were tar-sealed in preparation for bitumen sealing next summer. The whole of the season 's surfacing wrork estimated for was completed. All roads aro now in fairly good order. The setting-back of tho fonco line for widening Avondale road a distanco of about fifteen chains is now in progcess. The completiou of tliis work will result in an immense improvement at tho intersection of Neeve road by the splaying-baclc of the sharp corner at that point. Footpaths. — The* following footwajs were coated with tar and pea-gravel: Neeve road from Avondale to Taipo i Creek: Gloucester street from Memorial I to Presbyterian Church and from Elborne street to Peddio street and Meeanee road to Murpliy road from King slre'et, also along the Town Ilall fronlage.
