Not Defending French Singles Title (Reeeived 20, .30 a.m.) LONDON, May 19. Under medical orders, Baron Von Gramm is not defending his French singles title. He needs a complete rest and considers it advisable to take it after his surprising defeat at Berlin by the young Czech, Oejnar, and reserve himself for the Wimbledon and Davis Cup matehes. Von Cramm decided to play in the doubles in the French championships, in which in the seeond round Von Cramm and Henkel defeated Berthet and Rodel 6 — 2, 6 — 1, 6 — 2.
