WAIPUKURAU MEETING

To commemorate Motker's Day, all members and visitors to tlie (May meeting of the Waipukurau Womeii'e Institute were presented with .choice skoulder sprays. " . The meeting opened 'with the institute song, ai'^r which the president extended a curdiai weieome to the exeeptionaliy large attendance of members and visitors, also to uOw members, Mesdames D, Scott, L. Olsen and Miss D. lirown, The roll call, "What I admired most in my inotiier,' proved most interesting. A short musical programme was much enjoyed, items being rendered by Mrs D. Scott, Mrs T. Murray and members of the Glee Ciub. A recitation was given by Mrs F. Young. Aiter tea had been clispensed hy Mesdames J. Lovatt, J. V. Itichards, it. Mciiean and Misses M. Peterson and 0. McLean, Mrs E. E. Tricker gave an instructive demonstration on makmg wool rugs, and at.the conclusion was accorded a hearty vote ei thanks, Invitations were received from the Hatuma and Otane lnstitutes for their birthday partieS. Competitions for ' the day resulted : Sponge roll (no butter) Mr E. Fraser 1, mrs Perkins 2, Mi-s liush 3. Wheatmeal scones, Mrs Wadman 1, Mrs Brown 2, Mrs Eraser 3. Chrysantiiemum bloom, Mrs Eraser 1 Mrs Bromell 2, Mrs Pejkins 3. A vote of sympathy was accorded Mrs W. Peterson in her bereavement. The singing of the National Anthem brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.
