Store Sheep Prices Improve At Waipukurau BREED1NG EWES WANTED Recent beneficial rains giving farmers encouragement to hold on to their stock accounted for the short yarding at Waipukurau to-day, when the market for store sheep showed an lmprovement of from 1/- to 1/6 a: head. The pens included a few good lines, among which a 6ne entry on account of Mr W. Hobson, Takapau, of four-year breeding ewes brought 30/2. SmaJl-grown wethers improved well on last week, and late-shorn ewe lambs off hill country met a better market making np to 23/9. Verv few woolly wether lambs were on offer, smallgrown light-conditioned sorts made T3/A feature of the selling was the improvement in 5 and 6-year breeding ewes showing splendid mouths, which made 27/-. Bidding for all lines was more active than has been the case for some weeks, and the sale showed a hrighter tone. Buyers from outside districts were also in the market. Except for a few pens of maiden S.D. ewes the fat sheep section lacked quality. The cattle section constituted a poorquality offering except for a few lines of station-bred steers. Values were in vendors' favour and, on the basis of quality, made satisfactory saies. The fat pens consisted of a few aged dairy cows, there being an absence of butchers' quality. ' •' Realisations were as follow:

CATTLE Three medium-grown weaners, just off their mothers, and iu good order, sold at £2 17/-. An entry of mixed-bred aged cows, finished for dairying purposes, in very plain order, made to £4. A further poor-quality entry brought £3. On account of Abbotsford, Ltd., an entry of 24 mixed-aged' Aberdeen Angus-Jiereford cross steers, in medium condition and showing a good coat, a useful line of young cattle, made a good sale at £7 4/-. In from Pukehou, a line of medium grown mixed-bred weaner heifers sold at £2 19/-. A line of mixed-bred 3-year heifers, uneven in size (r.w. Shorthom) but showing up well, sold at £4 1/-. Four springing Jersey heifers, due to calf at end of July, in poor order, were sold at £3 6/-. The' line was guaranteed sound and right.

FAT oHEEJr. An entry of 14 medium-grown prime well-woolled wethers passed for 28/1. A line of 38 aged ewes, in very poor order, were passed at 11/-. Fourteen extra-prime medium-grown maiden Southdown ewes in good order were passed at 24/9. A line of maiden 4-th S.D. ewes in extra-prime order, a choice quality entry, brought 26/-. An entry of 33 light-finished earlyshorn wethers were passed at 27/-. Ten well-woolled heavy prime liomney lambs sold at 28/-. STORE SHEEP. On account of Mr W. Hobson, Takapau, 464 4-year-old ewes running with S.D. rain since February 20 brought 30/2. These ewes were a straight line, being well woolled and in good order, haviug been well farmed. On account of Mr J. Schaffer, Porangahau, 134 5 and 6-year ewes, particularly well mouthed, carrying a good length of wool and running with S.D. rams smce March 1, met the market at 26/1. A line of -222 well-grown early-shoru 2 ani 4.\Ji wethers, in medium condition, made a good sale at 23/6. On account of Mr J. Schaffer, Porangahau, L0Q small-grown light-condition-ed Wv.tIIv Eomney wether lambs, cn quite fresh order, brougnt 13/3. Jn from Ashley Clinton and on account of Mr E. R. Miles, 80 4 and 5-year ewes running with Eomney rams since March 12. brought 27/1. These ewes were well framed and in good order and carried' a very good slipe. On account of Mr J. L. Jamieson, 89 6-th and 4-year-old ewes, small in frame and running with Eomney rani since March 3, sold at 23/-. In from Wallingford, a line of smallframed late-shorn 4-th ewes, running with Eomney rams, brought 23/-. An entry of 51 very early-shorn medium-grown wethere, in forward 9rder, sold at 24/9. Down from Argyll, a line of lateshorn fairly-grown Eomney ewe lambs, in good order, made 23/9.
