EOTOEUA, La*t Night, After remaining quiescent since No- . vember last Pohutu geyser in the Whakarewarewa native reserve suddesly beeame active agaia to-day-and for a period of about half an hour gave one of the most spectacular displays it has given fbr a number of years past. The playing of the geyser was precedec! by unusual activity by the Prince of Wales feathers geyser which played tc a hpight of 60* feet. Pohutu 's highest shot reached approximately 120 feet which is considerably greater than the avefage heigbt of shots it ha$ given during recent years. The sudden action of the geyser is attributed to the rise in the level of the lake caused by the torrential rain over the week-end.
