Tribute to Former Minister's Efforts DEMAND FOR N.Z. PRODUCE
A tribute to tbe efforts oi the former Minister of Industries and Commerce, the Hon. It. Masters, in the matter of trade with the East'was paid by Mr F. E. Smith at the meeting of the Hastings Chamber of Commerce last evening. "A great' tjeal of the trade that at present exists between New Zealand and the Eaat is due to the efforts of Mr Masters," h© said. "He put in a lot of hard work, and it is pleasing to note that results are accruing l'rom ids efforts." Mr Smith drew attention tn recent publieation of butter statistics which i-evealed that New Zealand produce was becoming in increasingiy greater d'-1-mand in the East. He also rei'erred to • the fact that the Dutch were extending their operations to this part of ihe world, "There js no doubt that there is a great market in tho East if wa , wish to exploit it," declarcd Mr Smith.
