TAXATION REVISION

Proposals of Joint British Industrialists (Recejved 17, 1.0 p.m.) LONDON, May 16. The joint committee of the Associated Chambers of Commerce, the Federation of British Ihdustries, the Chamber oi Shapping, the Mining Association, the British Iron and: Steel Federation,- and Baltic Exehange, prepared a report to $he chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr Neviile Chamberlain, strongly advocating that the defence contribution be limited to a fixed percenfcage of total profits ,in no case more than ten p er cent, that the zonea duty, necessitating precise calculation on capital, be abandoned • that profits standard (optional to the taxpayer), be substituted for the basic years,; and that a tribunai witb wide discretionary powers be appointed to deal with special cases.
