His Worship remarked that, since Pink was a young man of good character and a New Zealander, he would give him a ehance. Pink was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon, on condition that he paid the steamer fare from Australia to New Zealand. The police stated that defendant had found himself without work or money in Anstralia and had stowed away on the Gabriella, being diseovered when the vessel had been at sea for two days. He had not been in trouble previously.
