Defender of America's Cup 7 M ARBLEHE ADj May 16. Mr Vanderbilt's candidate for the def ence of tho America 's Cup, the yacht Ranger, was dismasted in a gale. Theaull was undamaged and none were injured. Bepairs will require ten days, seridusly handicapping the tuning up, which may throw the burden of the defence on the Yankee and Eainbow.
