SHANGHAI. — Latest. population figures for the combined areas of Shanghai give a total population of 3,808,765. and accord Shanghai undisputed sixth place in world population Tankings for leading cities, according to announcement by ment of Greater Shanghai — or the the Police Bureau of the City GovernChinese municipality. This figure represents an inerease of 264,309 over the figure given for the end of 1935. Foreign population at the end of. the year just passed was 67,814, or an inerease of 12,444 over the 1935 figures. It is probable that the large inerease is ehiefly due to influx of White Eussians from Harbin.
