UNIQUE TENNIS RECORD
In Finals of Six Events The Parkvale Tennis Club Js championships and competitions this season proved a triumph for that versatile and popular Maori athlete, Wattie McKay, who established the unique xecord of winning his way into all six finals, men's singles, meji's doubles and' combined doubles in both championship and handicap events. Playing finished and most consistent tennis, especially in the handicap singles in which he conceded starts up to 70 and 80 in matches of 100 up, McKay was vietorious in all events except the combined doubles, in wbich, partnered by a junior player, Miss Rona Thompson, he was just beate'n in the final. In the handicap section of the same event, however, ni which Miss Thompson, who is a very promising player, produced excellent tennis, they turned the tables, and altliough 25 behind scratch, won decisively. McKay 's victories have proved most popular with his fellow club members, for his genial and sporting personality and his unselfish wilHngness always to help beginners, and players • less caphble than himself, not only at Parkvale but also at other clubs, have made him most popular. He is a true sportsman and a versatile athlete.
