Southern Hawhe's Bay Tourney

DANNEVIRKE, May 14. Weather conditions were anything -but favourable for the annual Southern Hawke's Bay tournament, organised-. by the. Dannevirke Ladies' Golf Club, which opened at Tahoraite this morning. Eain feU in the morning and a number of players did not complete their rounds. Fortunately there was a change for the better in the afternoon and the course was in good order. Mrs J. Field and Mrs H. Collinson were the only fwo Manawatu players to qualify and in the first round of the championship the former handed in an excellent card of 82 to beat her club-mate 3 and 2. : Enfctiies for the tournament are good and, as usual for this popular fixture, the arrapgements for.competitors leave nothing, to be desired, as carried out .by the efllcient secretary, Mrs O. Coulby, and club captain, Mrs E. Eaton. Mcxhbers. of the committee are also giving assistance, while Mr A.
