Mid-Week Games
Results of yesterday's hockey games, in Hastings were: — SENIOES. Gold (3) v. Pirates (2). White (2) v. Waimarama (1). Huia (4) v. Karori (1). JUNIORS. Karori (6) v. United Blue (1). Pirates (1) v. High School (nil). Gold had a meritorious rvin in def eating Pirates, who at one stage were two goals up. Pirates in the first half looked sure of a win, but after the interval Gold showed remarkable play and eventually rau out to win by three goals to two. White v. Waimarama, although iuclined to be a little straggly, was au exceptionally fast game at tioies. IJnited White held th# lead throughout, and although Waimarama fought hard in the closing stages they eouid not make up tho leeway. Karori, who are having a little difficulty in fielding a full team at present, held last year's champions for tho greater part of the game. Huia played the usually fast, open hoekey, and in the latter stages were definitely on top. Only superb defence on the part of Karori backs saved a larger tally. Blu« and Karori juniors started with a first-minute goal by Blue, but, unfortunately for Blue, Karori soon made
amends and ran out to win by six goals to one. Pirates and School played at ihe High School, and there was a decided iraprovement in both teams. As the season progresses, much more will be seen of these boys. The winners of this game were Pirates by one to nil.
