Lorry Overturns in Swamp AUCKLAND TRAGEDY AUCKLAND, Last Night. When a lorry went over a 35ft. bank on the main road near Saies, North Auckland, this afternoon a passenger named Jack Martin,. aged about 35, married, with three . children, was crushed. under the truck and fied as he was being admitted to the Whangaroa Hospital. Heavy rain was falling at the timo and the truek, driven by Jabez Fostcr, farmer and cartage contractor of Otangaroa, in attempting to pass a car arxven by Harry Attenbarrow, went • too ±'ar over the side of a built-up road and xalhng down la'nded in a mangrove Bwamp with its wheels in the air, Mar- ' tin being trapped underneath. • .l0"7 Was e"xtensively damaged and still hes in the swamp where it is being covered by the rising tide. When Constable Buckley arrived at :the scene some of the men who were supposed to have been on the truck had left for thqir homes and it was not known definitely if any were injured. Dnver Foster said that as far as he knew there were only two men other than himself on the truck. He was in I?6 and these two were sitting in the body. He did not know that Marwas on the ^uck at the time. Martin was employed at the K.D.V. Box Company's mill at Otangaroa.
