Aero Club Favours Experts Report FUTURE REQUIREMENTS A strong recommcndation that steps be taken immediately by the Napier Borough Council to put into effect the advice given by Wing-Commander the Hon. B. A. Cochrane in regard to aerodromes at 'Napier was made this morning by the president of tbe Napier Aero Club, Mr Arnold Wright, who stated. that the club was very pleased with the tenor of the report. In the report, released yesterday, Wing-Com-mander Cochrane recommended the giradual development of the Beacons Aerodrome at Westshore in preference to the main Napier aerodrome. "As the club has always looked to the Government aviation authorities for guidance in regard to the development of aerodrome facilities at Napier, it is very pleased that the report of Wing-Commander Cochrane in so much m accord with tne feeiings of members on the subject," said Mr Wright. "The future of the aerodromes of Napier, if the advice contained in the report is followed, is assured, and the club liopes that steps will be taken by the Napier Borough Council to put into effect bis recommendations . "Napier hardly realises the importance of adequate facilities for commercial aviation that make for the safety of passengers and efficiency of the service in all weathers, day and night," he said. "It is hoped that the aerodrome will be steadily developed until it is not only the best landing ' fleld in New Zealand but one of the bestequipped. As Napier eerves a large area, it is most necessary to see that further advice is obtained from WingCommander Cochrane, so that no mistakes will be made in the ultimate layout of the 'drome in the future." _ Mr Wright added that the suggestion of zqning the main aerodrome for Several years until the development of' aviation showed that it was necessary to put it into use to cope with an increased amount of traffic. appealed to him.
