Fine Efiort by Maraekakaho Women THE LIST OF AWARDS The Maraekakaho Women 's Instifute held a most successful show in the Maraekakaho HalL This was the first effort of the Maraekakaho Women 's Institute in this direction, but it is hoped to. make .ihe show nn annual eveht. The prosident, Mrs J. Graham, wolcomed the many visitors and thanked all those who had helped to make the day a success, especially the judges in the various sections. Mrs Graham expressed great pleasure at having present Mrs Riggir, president of the Northern Hawke's Bay Federation of Women 's Institutes, whom she callcd upon to open the show. Mrs Riggir, after speaking for a few minutes about the work and anms of women's institutes, formally declared the show open. An enjoyable aftemoon tea ' was served in the supper-room, where the tablea were decorated with bowls of autumn leaves and autumn-tinted flowers and red, white and- blue streamers. In charge of the afternoon tea, Mrs L. McLean and her band of willing helpers spared no effort in making tea very popular, Misses Simmons and McLean, at the sale stall, did bidsk business and.also were in charge of the competitions. A brau tub provided for the small folk was very well patronised. In all classes entries were very satisfactory, and in spite of the dry season entries in the flower and vegetablp sections were surprisingly good. Following is the list of awards: — COOK3NG.
