"LET US DEDICATE OURSELVES TO SERVICE"
Mr Baldwin's Message to Empire (Received 13, 9.50 a.m.) LONDON, May 12. The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Stanley Baldwin, in broadcasting to the Empire, said:— -"It has been a day of profound emotions, and I am now sitting qnietly with two or three friends in the Cabinet Room in Downing Street, in the heart of London, a room whieh has been oeeupied by the Prime Mihisters of this sountry for two hundred years. This morning I was in the Abbey; early this afternoon I was privileged to drive in the procession through miles of London streets. In the Abbey I saw our young King and Queen dedicating their lives to the service of their people, and, as I said only the other night in the House of Oommons, a service that can only ended by death; and as I drove through the streets and saw the crowd 3ager to see the great newly-crowned King and Queen aud listened to their ringing cheers— the kindliest people in the whole world — I thought : There is only one way in which we can make permanent that impression of what we have seen and heard this day. Let us dedicate, afresh if need be, ourselves to the service of our fellows — i service to our neighbours, our country, our province aud our sountry; to the Empire and to the world; not only the service of our lips, but the services of our lives, as we know well to he the hope of our King and Queen, God bless them!"
