SCOTS CELEBRATE

Scottish Queen Honoured ,• The .dance in honour'of the Scottiuh Queen hold by the Hastings and District Scots Society in the Oddfellows" Hall, Hastings, on Monday evening was a great success. The hall was filled to capacity,_ many having to (stand. The decorations wer'e a f ea ture of the evening; the ceiling and stage were set out in red, white and blud streamers and balloons. The walls and stage front were decorated with shrubs, ferns, chrysanthemums and shields with the -lion rampant and pictures of Their Majestles were set at intervals rouud the room. The whole scheme gave a very pleasing and pretty effect, making a very suitable background in keeping with the patriotic spirit prevailing. The function opened with the singiog of the National Anthem. The chief, Mr P. J. PrieSt, dxtending a welcome to all present. He apologised for the absence of Mr and Mrs Hugh W. C. Baird and briefly outlined the object of the function, stating that Scots all ovcr the world, while loyal and patriotic at aJJ times, were particulaTly interested in the present Coronation of His Majesty and his Scottish Queen. The evening was then given over to old-time and Scottish dancing, whic.h was lndulged in until the wee sina' hours. The music supplied by MacKay's old-time orchestra contributcd greatly to the success of the evening. Chieftan Ramsay was the M.C.
