HASTINGS CENTRAL
The Drill Hall was the venue of the Hastings Central School 's celebrations, which took the form of a most enjoyable eoiicert and party, The various classfcs, collectively and individually, took part in the peerformances, which were of "high merit. Various tableaux appropriate to the occasion were presented, the children being lavishly costumed and pres'enting a vcrv spcctacular scene. At the conclusion of the entertainment the Coronation cake was presented to the children, the gift beiog tuade in a pleasing little ceremony during which "Her Majesty" cut the cake and directcd that it be distributed to her "Court." Accompanying the piece of cake qiid the souvCnir button was a generously-filled bag of cakes, sweets and fruit, and the manner in which these wefe consumed by the youngstefs ■ lef t no doubt about their appreciafcion of the treat provided by the school committee and the teaching staff. Thanks to the parents for their attehdance was voiced by the headmaster, Mr ParkCr-Stoith, and tho chairman of the committee, Mr W, S. Bennett, both of whoih expresBed their gratitude at the great interest displayed by the parents not only in the children but in the' school atself. The party concluded with rousing cheers for the Hastings Borough Couneil in appreciation of what it had done dn providing the cake and a grant; for the teachers and the committee; and for Their Majcsties King George and Queen Elizabeth. The address concluded with the singing of the National Anthem by the children, followed by the distribution of the Coronation cake and badges. The remainder of the afternoon was spent in organised games.
