CORONATION BALL

Brilliant Success at Waipawa LARGE CROWD ATTENDS (From Our Own Correspondent). The grand Coronation BaH organised by the bachelors and. spinsters of Wai* pawa and held in the Municipal Thea* tre last evening, was an outstanding success, patrons being present from all parts of the district, ineluding large contingents from Hastings, Waipuku* rau, Tikokino and Ongaonga. The hall had been brilliantly decor* ated with balloons and streamers of redj white and blue, while strings of col* oured flags and pennants added greatly to the effect, and a large crown decor* ated with the patriotic colours and suspended in the centre of the room gave a proper finish to the whole deeoration scheme. A number of shields and emblems adorned the walls, while the stage was set with large ferns relieved with streamers and banners. The scheme of decorations was one specialIy prepared for the occasion, and with the large attendance presented an 4ex* ceptionally flne sight. A similar schem* of decorations had hoen carried out iu the supper-room, and the tables carried.; vases of bright flowers and greenery. Excellent music for the dancing wai provided by Les Henry's orchestra, and the duties of M.C. were very capably carried out by Mr. F. McSweeney. A delightful savoury supper wai served, and special mention must be made in this connection of the flne work done by Mt. H. Weedon and hii band of holders. A large assortment of novelties in the shape of paper hats, streaqners| blowouts and rowdies added greatly to the gaiety of the evening. A log cabia statue dance was won by Miss Jackson land Mr. Orr, with Miss C. Hercock and partner second. The Monte CaTlo wen^ to Miss M. Hercock and Mr. Morgan, second place being awarded to Miss M* Malcolm and Mr. Bosley. For non-danceTs bridge had beenpro* vided, Mrs. Bryant being the winner, and Miss Bridge winner of the hidden number. , _ • The proceeds of the dance wiu be donated to the King George V. Memorial Fund.
