Mrs Htten, iakapau, accompanied by Miss Mary Bibby, Tunisdale, left by car on Monday for Wellington, where they joined Miss F. White, Ongaonga, all sailing for Melbourne on Tuesday. My W. Brayton, Napier, is staying with- Mr and Mrs Geo. Coles, Ongaonga. Messrs W. J. Yardley and J. Bibby, Ongaonga, after spendihg a week at Turangi, where they were fishing, nave arrived home again. Miss A. C. Inglis, matron of ' the Pukeora Sanatorium, is at present visiting friends . in Hawera, being on annual leave. Miss C. Buchanan, a very popular and capable teacher in the Wairoa district high school secondary department, has received. advice that she has heen appointed to a position in the Arawa District High School. Miss B. Powell, Hataitai, Wellington, is paying a visit to - Wairoa. She is staying with Mrs S. G. Pether. At the close of the last Wairoa school committee meeting Mr R. de B. HUI, chairman, was tendercd a farewell and congratulated on his promotion to Stratford. Many regrets were expressed at the loss the district had sustained from an educatiqnal point of view. The Te Reinga native, Te Hata Paora. who suddenly disappeared frpm his Kainga last week on hearing of the death of a grand-child, has returned. \
