ATLANTIC FLIGHT
Merrill Welcomed at Croydon (Received 12, 8.45 a.m.) LONDON, May 11. The American aviators Richard Merrill and Lambie arrived at Croydon at 5.35 p m., completing their transatlantic flight. They brought photographs of the Hindenburg airship disaster. "Where the heck are we?" asked Lambie when he landed at the Air Force station at North Weald. "What are you doing here? Who are you?" was the chilly reply, private flyers being forbidden to land on military aerodromes.
