The Pukekohe Fixture A NINE-RACE BILL
(By Telegraph-
AUCKLAND, This Day. The soje turf attraction in the Auckland d'istrict for Coronation Day ia the flxture of the Bay of Islands Racing Club on the Franklin Club's course at Pukekohe, wjxere fine fieids are en» gaged, The course has stood* up to cojxtinuous rain remarkably well and it is unlikely that the track will be very heavy uuless further rain comea tomorrow, The betting system wiJl be win and place. A feafcure of the jumping events, the Kent Hack Hurdles and the Coronation Steeplechase, is the number of novuces engaged, though the latter event has drawn several proved hurdlers. It is quite probable that speed rather than fencing "ability will be essential in the cross-country Tace, for the "couutry" is very easy and the fences not at all formidable. * Good Propositions, Horses that appear to stand out in their engagements to-morrow are Grand Cdty in the Gloucester Hack, Spearcourt in the Kent Hurdles an'd Tip Toes and Queen Elizabeth in tbe Hack Cup. In all the other races the issues appear to be very open. The Windsor Handicap, for maidens at starting, has had to be divided, and with nine races carded an early start is to be made. In tbe King George Hndlcap tbe topweight is Sinking Fund, wbo has previously raced well on this track and it is in his favour that he ig at houxe in any kind of going. So, too, ua Miss Lu, who went a good race on this her home track last tixne, and has since won. Knight of Australia prefers a heavy track and he may get it, but be won tho Franklin Cup bere a couplo of months ago in iirm ground, so ho is versatile. Day Wind, second to Gay Tulkio in tho Nolan Handicap at Ellerslie at Easter, Te Hai, Horowhenua, Bonny Gay (if muddy), Gay Broney and Con Jhxoco are others to be coneidered, but in his present form Knight of Australia may appeal most, Lightweights' Chance, With flfteen ongaged in tho sprint, tlie Quecn Mary Handicap, the draw and beginning ability will be vital factors. With Kelly, Triunc and Tooley Street all above the nine stone xnark, there will be a tendency to look for something lower down the scale, and of these Star Artist and Sir Tommy may make most appeal. However, Tray Bit may be the best if ho is at top, and the easxng of Ihe ground has enabled his trainer to slip the work in. •Following are form horses engaged
