CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. • ( Mr. Alex T. Waddell, manging directbr of Thos. Waddell and Sons, steel(ounder*, C-bri stchureh, died thi* afterncxpn from injuries xeceived when a car iriren. by his wife struck a stone cul«r»rt near Amberley on Saturday even- ; Tbe accident toolc place at the corner fcf ihe Swamp road and Douglas xoad ihortly after 5 o'clbck when Mr, and Ifrt, Waddell, with two other passen* C«ra, weta leturning from the Amberley rwi*. When turning the corner, which tc T«y sbarp, the car ran across the road and struck a culvert at, the other lidtf. Mr. Waddell suffered a fractured iknll and other injuries, while Mrs. Waddell had an arm broken. .The car arts "badly damaged and part of theBnlvert arai carried away. e Mr, and Mrs. Waddell were brought |o Christchurch, by ambulance.
