Coronation Day Ceremony

WAIPAWA, This Day. The monthly meeting of the Waipawa District High School Committee was held last evening. Present: Messrs W. E. Yates (chair), S. W. Strang (secretary), R. N. Verran, A. Egglestone, M. Martin, Y. A. Patterson and Mrs Adeane. Leave of absence was granted Mrs Preston. On tlio motion of the chairman, it was decided to purchase two new water meters for installation at the school in place of the present meters, which are out of order and are not repairable. The headmaster gave an outline of the ceremonial, at whdch parents and friends are cordially invited to attend, to be observed by the school on Coronation Day. The school would assemble at 9 o 'clock, and at 9.15 the children would march to the uew school site, where addresses would be delivered by the headmaster and speaker to be selccted by the committee. Trees would then be planted at the entrance by the chairman and secretary. Following the singing of "God Save the King" the children would disperse for the day. It was decided to purchase two Indian cedar trees for the above purpose, Mr W. H. Eatlibone to be requested to address the pupils. It was also resolved that a good flag, preferably the New Zealand Ensign, be purehased aud presented at the ceremony. The headmaster reported on the attendance as fo'llows: — Primary average 158, roll 197; secondary average 71. roll 74. It was decided to purchase 17 black jerseys for the use of the school foot . ball team. The visit.iug committee reported on a number of necessary repairs, and ftlao referred to the unsatisfactory conditioa of the science room stove. Tlie visfting committeo for rext month will be Messrs Hutchings and Martin.
