NAPIER TOWNSWOMEN'S GUILD MEETING
The Napier Townswomen's Guild held their monthly meeting yesterday afternoon in the Forester's B(all, when Mrs Bruce Barnett, acting chairwoman, presided pver an excellent attendanee of members. The president, "Miss Jerome Speiicep- and the secretary, Miss C. V. Fanniii, wero also seatecl on tbe olaticrm. Tlie meeting opened with the singing of the Gpild Ode ahd a Goronation Anthem. . Several new members were annouhced. Mrs Barnett extending a very cordial welcQin© to tliem. A further request was made for ftjnds to buy wool for. the boys at France Hqu§e. A letter from Mrs Henley, chairwopian of the Guild, whq is on a holiday trip to Hngiaqd, was r.ead, relating a few incidents which had happeneci on the voyago and also greetings fo the Guild. Miss Spencer gave a short fcalk on the WorkersJ Eduqational Association's acfivities, their stndy groups and series of lectures, ' r Dr FitzGerald's address on roadside advertising hoardings spoiling the beauty of New Zealand scenery, was listened to with much interest. Greatly appreeiated was the address on landscape gardening by Mr L. J. Donnelly, who gave his listeners many practical hints on how to plan a garden. At the eoncliision a hearty Vote of thanks was passed to the speake'r. Musio 6f Gfeat Britain and its development through the ages, from the eleventh century np t© the present j time, was dealt "with in a most inter- ! esting mdnner hy Mrs J. A. Rosewarne. ; Mfs P. Sorrell rehdered in a very j pleasing manner a vocal solo, "Passing By." The Nationql Anthem waq sung and afterhoon tea served.
