Feed Shortage Aifects Cattle Prices STORTFORD VAfrUES Shortage of feed accounted for the slow selling of etore cattle at Stortford Lodge yesterday. The yarding included some well-bred station lines, but buyers showed little inclination to open out on these. For farmers with suitable feed weaners made particularly good buying, the market for these being decidedly easier than at late saies- Fat and forward bullocks made £9 7/6, but light sorts were difficult to trade. Guaranteed empty fat and forward heifers sold below expectations. Down from Tangoio, a line of smallgrown 20-months Aberdeen Angus, in medium order, was passed at the only bid of £5. On account of Greenhill Station, 29 weaner Aberdeen Angus-Hereford cross medium-grown heifers made £3. An entry of 29 em.pty Aberdeen Angus cross cows, in light order and drawn from Te Waka, was passed at £3 12/-. On account of Mr A. A. Small, 28 fairly-grown young, Aberdeen-Angus cross, in quite. forward order and ready for fattening, sold at £7 17/6. On account of Mr Stephen Menzies, 39 medium-grown Aberdeen Angus weaner heifers, a few showing a Hereford cross, a useful line, sold at £3 On account of Mr A. A. Small, 27 fat and forward Aberdeen Angus cross bullocks, most of them ready to hang up, were passed at £9 7/6. On account of Mr A. Smith, Poukawa, 22 fat and forward Aberdeen Angus heifers, a few showing a Hereford cross and guaranteed empty, were passed at £4 10/-. A line of clean-bred 20-month Aberdeen Angus steers, in backward order, and in very hard condition, was passed at £6 5/On account of Greenhill Str+ion, 20 mixed-bred cows, in fair condit'on, and guaranteed empty, met the market at £3 6/-. On account of Mr Stephen Menzies, a line of well-bred Aberdeen Angus weaner steers, in good condition, sold at £4 13/-. On account of Greenhill Station, an entry of medium-grown Aberdeen Angus steers, a few showing a Hereford cross, in hardy sound condition, ibrought £4 6/6.
