INVERCAEGILL, Last Night. Two important decisions affecting the dairy industry were given by tho . Magistrate, Mr W. H. Freeman, S.M., to-day. In one the Magistrate sup; ported the opinion of the Department of Lahonr that if a dairy factory worker is employed on a statutory half-holiday he mnst be paid additional pay. • - In the other ca3e the Department proceeded against tho Seaward Downe Dairy Company for an alleged breach of the provisions of the award in that defendant failed to pay the worker a proportionate holiday allowance in accordance with the provisions of the award. The Magistrate gave judgment for the Department. As both were test cases judgment was given for plaintiff without penalty.
