ATTCKLAND, Last Night". When the French sloop Eigault de Genouilly lcaves Auckland to-morrow on her return to her headquarters at Papeete she will carry with her as a gif t from the people of Auckland materials for nse in the restoration of the graves on the island of Mauna in the j Samoan group of the officers and mon of the La Perouse ^xpedition who were. murdere^ there in 1767. This gift, which has'been made by the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, on behalf of the citizens, consists of 50 feet of stone kerhing and two bags of cement. In acknowledging the gift the eom* mander of the sloop, Commander Leon Moron, said he was profounaiy touched' by this new mark of friendship sbown to the French Navy by the city of Auckland.
