Meeting of Committee
A meeting of the Parkvale School Cominittee was 'held in Hastings last evening, Mr J. Stiekland prelding over Messrs T. Rapley, W. Henderson, C. H- Bennett, K. J. Davidson, H. Spenee, H: J. Philpott, H. Cameron (honorary secretary and treasurer)j and W. B. Roe (headmaster). Having been officially informed that a new system of collecting the fees for the Dental Clinic had been devised, it was decided to write to the Clinic Committee asking for information regarding the collection of the fees and also for a copy of the regplations. A hearty vote of thanks and appreciation was passed to Mr and Mrs Geo. Younge for the donation of a pot plant and also a framed picture, Appreciation of the services of the aecretary-treasurer, Mr Cameron, was voiced by members, the department baving returned the balahce -sheet without any "tags."' This is Mr Cam» eron's fourth term of office. A circular was received from the Hawke's Bay Education Board advising that the by-law regarding the devotional services in schools had been amended to allow, should the committee approve, of an additional fivei minutes each day being given to devotional service. — It was decided to inform the board that the committee- was agreeable to ministers and lay-readers taking the additional services as provided for in the amended by-law. The headmaster, Mr W. B. Roe, reported that the school reopened for the second time this year with a good attendance of 406 pupils.
