Lack of Parents* Support In Waipukurau
(From
WAIPUKURAU, This Day. Because of the poor attendance at the annual meeting of the Waipukurau Home and School League last night, the meeting . was adjpumed until next Monday night. In the meantime all parents are to be circularised asking them to ehow their appreciation of the efforts of the League by attending the meeting. Mr C. Cassidy presided at last night 's meeting. Mr Phillips congratulated the committee on the annual Teport and balanee-shoet, and said that he thought a tribute should be paid to the. committee for the work done toward the betterinent of the school and its facilities. He thought it a great pity that the parents and public generally had not given them a greater measure of support in their work. Mr V. Parsons, headmaster, apologised for the absence of the presidont, Mr Martin. He congratulated the committee on their work. Like Mr Phillips, he thought the league should be supported by every parent in the district. Mr Cassidy thanked the speakers on behalf of the league, and Mr A. F. Haycock, chairman of the scbool committee, endorsed the remarks made by Mr W". Phillips and Mr Y. Parsons. Mesdames De Lacy, McLean, Renner and King and Mr J. A. McLean accepted nomination for the committee of the Home and School League. After some discussion as to what could be done to obtain sufficient members for the committee, at was decided to adjoum the meeting nntil next Monday night President's Report. The president, Mr H. A. The subseriptions from members amounted to 48/-. This is somewhat disappointing, and I would appeal to parents to show their appreciation of the work the league is doing by becoming members and attending the social eveningsOur thanks are due to all those who have contrihuted to making) the socials a success. During the year over £30 lias been donated to the school, and we are pleased to state the balance in hand amounts to £15 18/3In conelusion I wish to thank the committee for its support, and trust that th© incoming committee will have a successful and prosperous year.
