Quite a large number of members were present, and were shown round the nursery by Mr C. Corner, the'superintendent, who gave much valuable advice about planting and growing various plants. The chrysanthemums, whieh were being espeeially looked after so that they would be ready for use for the Coronation decorations, were a wonderful sight, and Iceland pppies already in bloom were looked upon with envy by the Hastings visitors. The glass-houses. also, had a fine display of begonias and ferns, as well as ni jmy rare plants and other cuttings in tlie process of being 'grown ready for planting out later. The Hastings visitors were the guests of the committee of the garden cirele of the Napier Townswomen's Guild, who were also present to see the gardens, for afternoon tea. A particularly delicious tea was arranged in the croquet pavilion and was mueh enjoyed. Mrs Pegram, the leader of the Napier circle, on behalf of their committee, welcomed the Hastings members and mentioned that it was through Mr Corner 's kindness that the visit had been made possible.
