Mrs. M. E. Shattky

The death of Mrs Margaret Mizabeth Shattky, wixich oecurred in Hastings cn Saturday, marked the loss to Hastings of one of its most highly respected citizens, and a resident of over 45 years' standing. Born in Geelong, Victoria, the late Mfs Shattky, who was 76 years of age, came to New Zealand in 1892, and she had resided in Hastings siiice that time. As the mother of a very mtisical family, she natufally took a keen interest in musical mattefg of the toWn, but in recent years, ber advaiieihg age caused her retirement from a Very active life, the end of which was per^ haps hastened by the fact that she lost her husband only five months ago. Of the most kindly and generous disposition, the de'ceased lady won many lifelcmg friends, and by them, the deepest sympathy will he felt for the remaining members of the .family, Miss Ruby Shattky, Messrs Otto and Ernie Shattky, all of Hastings. The funeral took place at the Hastings Cemetery yesterday aftetnoon, an. impressive service being conducted by the Rev. K. Liggett, and the many mourners and beautiful floral tributes in evidence, bore silent testimony of the high esteem in which the deceased lady wag held in all sections of the community.
