HASTINGS WOMEN'S CORONATION PAGEANT
The people, of Hastings are entermg into the Coronation soirit. with much feeling, and the display in our shops and streets promises to be oue really worthy of our town. The women foik, too, are very keen and the membeTs of the Hastings Townswomen 's ' Guild are arranging a historic pageant as their special part in the towh 's celebrations. Over 70 women are takihg part, and everywhere fmgers are -busy turning out the most marvellous old- world creations and period frocks in. which to stage a fine presentation of famous queens. aud notable women of the past. The opening part of their programme will include a very spectacular pageant with patriotic songs and dances by, the Maoris. • The whole. presentation is to be given in the Municipal Theatre on Thursday, May 13, and will 'be soffiething to b'e remembered. What means this stir about our town, With women buStling up and down, Eansacking all the drapers' stocks For yards of stuff to make quaint froeksf Cheap silks they take in every hue And muslins in red, white, and' blue, With Coronation spirit filled, Members of our Townswomen 's Guild Will turn the page of history With old-time pomp and pageantry, ;Great Queens they '11 be, in fine array Brave' women of a .bygone day. With homage due to royalty, And stirring songs cf loyalty, Both Pakeha and Maori Deelare their love and fealfv TTniting in glad eelebration Of good King^ George 's Coronation.
