Director from Kent to Visit New Zealand Mr. Salter Davies who will attend the New Zealand sessions of the New Education Fellowship Conference is one of "the best known directors of education in the world and a prOminent fig-, ure in the library sphere, being president of the Library Association of England. Mr. Davies has been director of Education for Kent since 1918 and Lif e Trustee to the Catnegie United Kingdom Trust since 1924, Apart from his work as Director of Education, he has taken leading parts in the work of numerous organisations ineluding the ea-, pacity of Expert Adviser of Army Education, Educational Advisor to H.M. Frison, Maidstone. He is member to: the National Advisory Council for the' Ministry of Labour, a inember of the; Exeeutive Committee of the B.B,C. School Broadcasting Council, , the Film Institute, the National Council of Social. Serviee, the Educational Reform Council, the Departmental Committee , on; Public Libraries 1924, Exeeutive Committees of the National ^Jentral Library for Students, Association of Education Cominittees, County . COuncils and the Association of Directors and Secretaries of Education. Mr. Davies was edue'ated at Haver--ford-West Grammar School and TJniversity College, Ab'eiystwyth, and was elassieal scliolar at Jesus College, Ox-. ford. From 1895-96 he was Master at Glasgow Academy and from 1897-1904 master at Cheltenham Grammar School., Till 1918 he acted as- Inspector for Higher Education in Kent. In 1924 he was elected President of the New Education Fellowship (English section).
