OBITUARY
MR E. T. INGRAM f * Following a prolonged illness the death occurred on Wednesday night of Mr Edward Thomas Ingram, a wellknown and highly -respected business man of Hastings. The late Mr Ingram was born at Thaxted, Essex, Engiand, in May, 1882, and before coming out to New Zealand about 24 years ago he served in the South African War. It was in 1914 that Mr Ingram set up in business on his own account in Hastings and he has resided here ever since. Mr Ingram earned for himself a high leputation iti business and other ciroh.fr aud d«vtpite many setbacks in bis health he found time to devote bis euthusiasm :»ud service in a number of directxbns. Hc was a tnember of the Hastings llotary Club, and a proinineht member of the Hastings Retailers' Association and the Hastings Cliainber of Commerce. He took a very keen interest in astrology and was an officer for a number of years in the New Zealand Society of Astrology. His Sporting, pastim^s included bowling and golf, being a member of the old St. Leonard's Bowling Club and tbe Parkvale Golf Club. He leaves a widow, but no faknily, otber tban two brotliers, Messrs B. E. Ingram, of Hastings, and C. Ingram,, of Thaxted, aud also a sister in Canada. ^ Ihe funeral took place this afternoon at the Hastings Cemetery, and the big attendance was in itself a trJlbute to the fine reputation that the late Mr Ingram bore in the town and district.
