East Coast Airways Maka Complaint SIGNPOSTS REQUESTED Comments on the poor facilities for passengefs at the Beacons Aerodrome, Napier, Were contained in a letter received by the Napier Airport Board at ' its monthly moe tin g last evening from East Cbast Airways Ltd. The company wfote regarding a notice informing passengerS of the change from the Napier Aerodrome to Westshore, &nd regarding facilities for passengers as followS: — "It has been reported to the company that many accidental delays have been caused in. connection with the serviees as a result of the passengers, not being aWare of the change of tne landing ground, stOpping at the old airport. It is respeetfully suggested that you Would see your way to eroot a notice in a suitable place, drawing attention td the locatiOn Of the new aerodrome. ''The matter of providing facilities to enable passengers to wash their hands on arrival after the journey fom Gisborne requires attention. Ah inexpensive basin and jug in the waiting roOm would be greatly appreciated. ' ' The board, in reply, said: "The chairman cOnsiders that as all intending passengers book at yout Napier office, it would be an easier matter to draw their attention to where the aircraft leave from. If yon have a suitable notice boatdj the board 's caretaker will be pleased to plaCe it in a suitable position.
"In regard to the inatter of washing facilities, the chairman fails to see the necessity for them after an hour 's journey only in your planes. However, • these matters will be placed before the board at its next meeting, and then diseussed. ' ' ' 'It may interest you to know that if the company paid yOu the full maximum landing fee payable under the regnlations for the use bf an efficientlyequipped aerodrome, the expefi.se would not be greater than that at present entailed," commentbd the company in reply, "so that the company will be glad when the unfortunate. circumstances under which thb board is working have been obviated, and the board is able tb function under normal working conditions." The outcome of the correspondence, and subsequent discussion at the meeting, was that the matter is to be held over pending facilities to be provided in the future.
