Mr, Slaughter stated he had been in; commnnication with the head office of the department ta Wellington on thesubject, which was ta agreement with the attitude he had taken on the question. Mr, Slaughter 's intimation of the department 's policy is the result of a published statement that dairy factories ta Auckland did not tatend to pay wages for Iholidays until the position regardtag their. liability under the award was clarified.
