FIFTY CONVICTIONS
Labourer Sentenced to Year's Prison BLENHEIM, Last Night. His half-century in crime convictions was reached .this morning by Arthur Jeffrey Durrant ta the Magistrate's Court. Durrant, who is a' labourer, pleaded guilty to two charges of false . pretencea. ' -Released froni Paparoa on, April 9, \ accused arrived at Blenheim on. April 36, -and made himself known to- a hotel proprietor whom he told that he was -drivtag a moh of sheep from Christchurch, where he -had a good time, but had lost his cheque bopk. • The hotel proprietor gave Durrant a cheque form, which the afccused filled ;iu and Caphed, later Tepeattag the perforinance at another Blenheim hoteL Bqth cheques.w-ere valueless. , . ^'This brings your convictions up io ihe" half-century," commented Mr. Matmsell, S.M., hfter perustag accused 's list.
