Sir,— I Waited expectantly • f or a protest to be made for the inclusion of an adniittedly infertor fountain in the eXpehditure on the CiVic Square Napier has a fountain to be proud of. If we want to spend more money ou display, let us strike out on'our own. Can you tell us, Sir, whether the expeoditure on our rather small parks has not exceeded £30,000 in the last five years? What additional sum will be required for the Civic Square each year? Do we not want playing grounds xather than more very brdinarv fioWers? — Yours, etc., «
