BUSINESS MAN.

(To the Editor.) Sir,— Some three or fouf years ago the business people of Hastings put in quite a large sum of money for street "decorations," and, wooden arckes wero made' costing round about £17 cach. These arches were of eome good and were suppose.d to be kept for iuture purposes in the council yards. Couid yoU, Sir, or any of your xcaders, advise, tbrough yottr columns, what happened to same? If they were sold. who got the benefit, etc.S If they are still on hand, they Would be of grear help in making the decorations of the fOrthcoming coron&tion show. As there are quite a number of business mea in .the dark as to what happened to these arches, I trust that you Will giVe this ttiatter a little space in your valuable Columns and oblige.— Yours, etc..

Hastings, April 25, 1937, 4 ' They have disintegrated," was the comment of a borough ofiicial to whom the above matter was referred. He eaid that the arches Were used on the occasion of a carnival and were later used on aaother occasion at the raeecourse. They certainly were storeki away at the botough yards for a num ber of years, but equally CCrtaiU Was at that they Would iio longer serve further purpose as part of the cbntemplated coronatlon and jubilee deeorative scheme.
