HASTINGS SCOTS

MontMy Ingleside The ingleside of the Hastings and Oistrict Scots' Society held in the Oddlellows' Hall, Market atreet, was a vvell-atteiided and happy gathering. (Jhieftain E. V. Simpson occupied the cliair. The chairman welcomed the members and their friendS. Among the various apologiea feceived Was one ftom Chief P. J: Priest, bne also from Miss M. Collins. Chieftain Simpson said that, bwing to business Which had called him but of town, it was regretted that Mr Priest cbiild riot attend his first ingleside as Chief bf the society. Mr Simpson Baid he Welcomed the presence of Mr and Mrs H, W. C. Baird, Mrs Baird having very kindly cbnsented to oontribute an item to the programme on very Short hotice. j The programme was( both talented and entertaining, The dbnces by Miss Pat Marsicauo and little Jean McOue were greatiy enjoyed. The vocal solos by Mrs Leget, Miss J. Symonds, Miss it. Schofield, Afiss Probert and Miss Deans were very sweetly rendered. The ItemS rendeted by Madame Mercer^ who contributed to the programme !5j apecldl request, Were greatiy approciated, the audlence persisting in ani encore. A recitation from Barrie given by Mrs Baird prbved very interesting, Mrs Baird being heartily applauded. The selectione by the Pipe Band and the Bolbs by Piper Dick Watts were of a very high standard. The instrumentai mtisic by the McKay family1 was most enjoyable, the liveliness of the Scotch ah's stirrlng up the hearts of everyond in the audience. They also had to respond to eacores. The chairman called for a hearty applause to those who had coutjtibuted to the programme, also to Miss A. Shaw, who acted as accompanist in place of Miss, Collins. Danoing followed supper. The dance music was supplied by the McKay or-. chestra and members of the band Chieftain Ramsay was M.C. ' 1 Auld Lang Syne" brought a happy gathering to a close.
