VVAH'UKURAU, This Day. An enjoyable function was held in conjunction with the presentation of the cups and trophies at the St. Andrew's Chrysanthemum Show last uight. in presenting Mr A. W. Parsons' Challenge Cup, which carries a miniature, to Mr B. S. Pelling, who gained the greatest number df points in tbe first 25 classes of the competition, and Mr Gi% Gideon's trophy to Mr JD. J. McLeod, who displayed the champion bloom, the Rev, W. R. Hutchinson congratu.aled the winners and thanked them for having taken such an jnterest in the show in entering eo many liru! exhibits. Flower growers had' had a most un tortunate season this year, and the blooms displayed refieeted great credit on tbose who had eutered them tor the competition. A vote ot tinui ks was passed by ac clamation to Mr A F. Cook for bi.woik in conneetion with the show in reply, Mr Cook said that he wasure that this type of show vvould iucrease in popularity ; in l'act, he had been assured tliat more oi the Hastings groweis would take part uext year. The concert programme included some very popular and most enjoyable eommunity singing led hy Mrs R W. Scott; duets by Messrs J. Cook and C. Wadman , solos hy Mrs Scott ; and duets by Misses- F. Malkin and G W iggins. J\liss M Kiug was accoiupauist. At the eoiiclusioii oi the evening "the Itev. Mr Hutiliuisou, on hehali ot the l.adios Guild, thauked Mrs Scott ancl her concert paity ior the fine entertainment she had provided.
