AWARD PRESENTED
Mr E. Allan Tong's Recent Success ZUKOR ANNIVERSARY . The presentatjon -of the- Zukor Anniversary award. for the best campaign on a Paramount picture in Australia and Kew Zealand, which was * won by Mr E. Allan -Tong; . manager of the Municipal,- Cosy and Regent Theatres in . Hastings, was made this morning. The trophy, which is a beautiful bronze plaque, was handed over to the Mayor, Mr G/ A. Maddisoa for presentation to Mr Tong,-- and attending the funetion were . rep^esentntives of the picture industry and others'who.had assisted Mr Tong in his campaign. ; ! , ' When asking the Mayor to 'make the presehtation, Mr P. Felton, publici'ty mariag'er fbr Paralnount ih New. Zealand, paid a tribute to Mr Tong as an ,able shcwman - and good f ellow in the trade. He'had performed a highly creditablq feat *in winning the award and had successfully passed the test in every kind of advertising. He extended congratulations to-Mr .Tong on behalf 'of Paramount and fellow Bhowmen throughout Kew Zealand and Austrailia. - . Mr Maddison said that it was a-great pleasure' to present tbo, trophy to Mr Tong, ..whoVhy ' reasqn of . his'; inanagement of the Municipal Theatre. might. be rqgarded -as a -borough officer. Certainly he was a highly esteemed cifizen of the town and it was pleasing to note that, apart ftom the individual honours that Mr Tong had gained, his wonderful feat had been the means of providing Hastings with good publicity thrcughout New. Zealand and Australia. He' congratulated Mr Tong upqn his effort, which had called for ability. ingenuity, halance and originality and had revealed that Mr Tong . possessed natural aptitude and artistry for 'the particular business in which ho was engaged. . ... . . Onv behalf of Amalgamated Theatres, Mr H. Olsen, also extended congratulations. • Mr' Teng, in reply, expressed his thanks and appreciation "to all ; those wlip- had assisted him, pointing .fiut that without that without that cooperatidn it would not have been.possible to have carried out the campaign. He paid a tribute' to Paramount as being .the only filin exchange- that offered such opportunities for the showmen in the picture business to extend theniselves ' and develop. their . individual abilit-ies. . ' " •
