OMAKERE, Last Night. A meeting of the Omakere branch of the Farmers' Union presidei over by Mr T. Price, was bela in the Omakere Hali on Monday. 5 The cbairman introduced Mr Cope, who spoke on matters relative to insurances alfecting the farming community, and he also gave a short history as to the forming of the Farmers' insurance Association. Mr Harris, Farmers' Union organiser, was also present, and he gfive a very instructive and interesting address deaiing with a variety ot subjects which affect farmers. The value of the union to the fariner was stressed, and lie told of several instances where the help of that body had resulted in a savmg of many thousands to the farmer. A warning was given not to forget fhe sociai side, the advisability of field coniipetitions, rifie shooting and the necessity of lectures. After his address Mr Harris answered a num.ber of questions. The formation of a young farmers' club lor those interested and working on farms was one of the questions, and he said that such clubs had a gireat educational value. The meeting closed with votes of -fchanks to Messrs Cope and Harris and to the chairman.
