Sivyer, when prosecuting Cliffe Boothman in the Hastings Magistrate's Oourt tliis morning on a charge of driving a vehicle in the bor-. ough at a dangerous speed. Mr J. Miller, S.M., convicted him and imposed a fine of £l 10/-, with costs 10/-. When interviewed, added the seniorsergeant, Boothman admitted that hd was driving at 40 miles an hour- At the time there was no traffic on th« road. Peter Waikai was convicted and fined £2, with costs 17/- for a eimilar offence. The police caugiht him approaching an intersection along Railway road at 30 miles an hour. So great Was his speed under the circumstances that ho nearly had- a collision wiih anothev rehicle. i i * ^ A A 1
